Belait District In For A 17-Day Fun And Dance


Kuala Belait – The Executive and Administrative Committees for His Majesty's 58th Birthday Celebrations for the Belait District have agreed to 17 events for 17 days starting July 15.

The Belait District Officer, Awang Haji Mohammad Yussof bin Bakar said among the events that will be presented will be the "Malam Gemerlapan 58", a speedboat competition, a agriculture and livestock exhibition, a golf tournament, a water festival and stage performances that will run for 17 nights.

The Belait District Officer said a field performance will carry the theme "Belait Membangun di Lembah Intan" or Belait developing on precious land.

This performance will contain four segments, including a Grand Finale with over 1,500 participants from the private sector, schools, village and mukim consultative councils and the Brunei Shell Sendirian Berhad.

A diamond has been selected as the symbol of the development that the people of the district have been enjoying from the natural resources found in the Belait District.

After the field performance, His Majesty the Sultan will proceed to receive greetings from the members of the organizing Committee of His Majesty's Birthday Celebration.

Participants of the field presentation, students, residents of various mukims and villages, government officers and staff, personnel from the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, converts, officers and staff from the private sector, banks and companies as well as officers and staff of the Brunei Shell Sendirian Berhad.

His Majesty will also be invited to witness an equestrian presentation from members of the Brunei Shell Sendirian Berhad Recreation Club. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
